Cuba Lake's Oil Springs Casino robbed at gunpoint - THE WELLSVILLE SUN

In 2014, the Seneca Nation opened a small gaming operation just past Cuba Lake, just over the Cattaraugus county line. Situated near discount gasoline, tobacco, and now cannabis outlets, the mini-casino was held up at gun point over the weekend.

Update: The unidentified male suspect entered the casino on July 30, 2022 at approximately 10:55pm displaying what appeared to be a semi-automatic handgun and carrying a cloth shopping bag. The suspect approached the cashier cage where he demanded money. The suspect appeared to be an average build white male and approximately 5’9”. He was wearing a camouflage shirt, hat, mask, dark sweatpants and black sneakers with white trim. The suspect appeared to be wearing transparent gloves with the words LOVE either tattooed on his knuckles or drawn on the gloves.

The manager of the casino indicated that the “stick-up” occurred while only a handful of customers were in the building. While security was present at the time of the robbery, “It was very fast, couple minutes and there wasn’t anything anyone could do.”

According to the manager, no one was hurt during the crime and everyone kept calm.

“Everything happened very quickly and the staff handled it very well.”

The amount of cash stolen is still unknown and the manager was not sure if an arrest had been made or not. New York State Police are investigating and he expected more information in the coming days.

In the meantime, it is business as usual at the gaming operation and no additional security has been employed.
